CALIFORNIA FITNESS MALIBU 2421 TREADMILL REVIEW

M242193c8

OVERVIEW

If an entry-level treadmill package could be this sweet, we’re willing to shoot ourselves in the foot! Malibu’s 2421 range – aka. The Space Saver – is hands down the most durable home treadmill you can buy for under $800. If the EZ folding system wasn’t enough to entice you to get this baby, the soft suspension and robust running service certainly will. A real bargain that’s not to be missed!

WHAT THE 2421 IS ALL ABOUT

At the heart of the 2421 lies seamless plug and play capability and workout options that can cater to a wide range of indoor workout fanatics. Don’t let the 2HP motor fool you – you won’t be paying much attention to the numbers once you start walking briskly on the air touch suspension, which is practically like walking on air.

We honestly were not expecting the 2421 to have any plug and play capability, being an entry-level model in the Malibu range – however, it performed like a champ when we connected our USB walkman to have that extra motivation on long-distance runs. In fact, it comes ready with premium-quality stereo speakers in case you prefer not to listen to your music through headphones.

There’s plenty of workout presets to choose from – the navigation on the 10-inch screen is slick and fairly straightforward, allowing you to cut right to the chase and choose a preset that works for you, or customise existing programs to your liking.

Even though the power unit chugs out just 2HP, it is more than enough to offer a maximum running speed of 8MPH – sufficient for most indoor runners. Up to 11% incline levels means there’s never a dull moment in your workout.

OUR FAVORITE FEATURES

  • Up to 11% incline level; not bad for a budget, fold-up treadmill
  • USB music player port an excellent feature; rare among treadmills in similar price range
  • Space saving abilities very impressive
  • Weighs just 130lbs; most users should be able to move it around with ease
  • Excellent durability and build quality despite being Malibu’s entry-level model
  •

NOTABLE SPECS

  • 8MPH max belt speed
  • Forged steel frame built to last practically a lifetime
  • High-efficiency motor that’s silent and long-lasting
  • EZ folding capability allows for super-convenient space saving in an instant
  •

OUR LEAST FAVORITE FEATURES

  • Running surface might not be adequate for taller or generally larger individuals
  • Console/screen layout could have been roomier
  • Not the best for sprinting or high-speed incline running
  •

THE BOTTOM LINE

Well, there’s not much left to shed light on – the Space Saver 2421 is a really great buy for under $800. We’re pretty sure you’re not going to find any other brand in this price range – a brand that boasts the same level of usability and durability, or space saving, for that matter.
